Purpose

At SSEF, we believe that there is a need for truly independent input into the discussion about Scotland’s energy policy and strategy. Our objective is to bring a new and constructive dimension to it. We will engage in all aspects of the debate, including economic, environmental, social, health, technological, planning, production, distribution and consumer issues.

We will achieve this by providing independent, authoritative data and informed opinion. Our outputs will include:
  • Special topic research papers.
  • Joint research projects on specific energy topics.
  • Responses to energy-related developments and events: comment and opinion.
  • Information for government, the media, Key Stake holders and the public.
SSEF is committed to the best interests of Scotland. An independent charity, it is not constrained by shareholder or party political agendas. We will publish the results of our research whatever its conclusions.

SSEF’s local knowledge and network will enable it to bring a refreshingly Scottish focus, reflecting Scottish opinion and aspiration, whilst at the same time demonstrating a sound understanding of the global and UK-wide issues which impact national economy and energy policy.

It will provide a balanced view and an impartial source of qualitative and quantitative data for all to use. Aiming to educate and inform across a range of fora, it will be active in presenting this information to policy- and decision-makers at all levels.

Scotland’s future prosperity, the quality life of its citizens, the conservation of its landscape and environment are fundamentally affected by public policy on energy generation and consumption.
